Alan Simmonds

Extensive business experience

Alan SimmondsAs a highly experienced leader in governance, outsourcing and business/IT strategy alignment, Alan has an excellent understanding of how compliance, governance and regulatory issues are managed and converted into practical processes for business benefit.

He has worked in numerous sectors including manufacturing, mining, finance, retail, utilities and health. His experience across many countries and industries means that he can quickly integrate with new programmes and clients at all levels.

Alan’s experience allows him to grasp significant issues quickly and develop an understanding of how these can be articulated and solved to the organisation’s continued advantage. He is equally at ease dealing with board as with operational staff.

Education and diversity

Alan holds formal qualifications in Clinical Psychology, the Social Sciences and has recently completed an MBA with a focus on governance.

Alan is a published author in Europe, USA and Asia on the Practical Management and Governance of Outsourcing and a contributor to TOGAF. Alan is a reviewer of many governance papers (ISACA/CobiT) and has delivered presentations as far afield as Malaysia and Japan. He is noted for his practical and specialist experience in handling the differences and conflicts between Corporate Governance regimes worldwide (e.g. mapping CobiT across SOx, King II, and so forth) which are increasingly significant risk/cost drivers.

Alan relaxes by running ultradistance races and learning the sax.
