A. ArchiMate is a design language that provides visual representations for architectures of the organisation. The models developed using ArchiMate can be used to facilitate visual discussions, cross-domain and impact analyses, i.e., for new product launch, and for effective communication with different stakeholders.

Q. How does ArchiMate complement TOGAF?

A. ArchiMate® 2.0 is an open and independent modelling language, which can be used in visualising, integrating, and analysing different domain architectures in your organisation. ArchiMate 2.0 language now supports modelling throughout TOGAF Architecture development Method (ADM).

Q. How can I register for the ArchiMate examination?

A. You will need to have completed either of the following: ArchiMate® Core Training for Practitioners Online Course, ArchiMate® 2 for Practitioners (2-day classroom-based training), or ArchiMate® 2 for Practitioners (2-day live webinar training). Q. Where will the ArchiMate® 2 Certified Examination take place?

A. The ArchiMate® 2 Certified Examination consist of a modelling exercise and will take place at a venue provided by Architecting the Enterprise, or at a suitable venue supplied by the client for onsite private training.

Q. What does the practical modelling exercise look like?

A. Candidates will be required to complete a modelling exercise based on the fictional ArchiSurance Case Study. The exercise will be assessed on the same day and successful completion means that the candidate will have achieved the ArchiMate® 2 Certified (Level 2) status.

Q. Is the practice modelling examination open book?

A. Yes. Delegates may refer to The Open Group ArchiMate Reference Cards for the exercises, which will be provided during the training course.

Q. Will there be a second chance on the day to complete the practical modelling exercises, if failed first time?

A. Candidates will be provided with additional time to redo the practical modelling exercises, if necessary.

Q. What are the requirements for achieving the ArchiMate® 2 Certified Level?

A. The ArchiMate certification is only achieved after satisfactory completion of these three components:

1. Attendance of an ArchiMate® 2 Accredited Training Course
2. Successful completion of a practical modelling exercise
3. Successful completion of the ArchiMate® 2 Examination

Q. How long is the ArchiMate® 2 Examination?

A. The ArchiMate® 2 Examination is part of the criteria to achieve the ArchiMate® 2 certification. The examination consists of 40 questions in the multiple-choice examination to be completed in 60 minutes. 30 minutes of additional time is provided for candidates who have already notified The Open Group that English is not their first language.

A. No. The ArchiMate® 2 Examination is CLOSED book and supervised.

Q. Why is the ArchiMate® 2.0 certification required?

A. The ArchiMate® 2 Certification for People ensures that individuals are knowledgeable about ArchiMate and have the capability to use ArchiMate for modelling. The Open Group certification logo for ArchiMate® 2 provides a visible trust mark for the IT industry.

A. The target audience for ArchiMate® 2 Certification includes individuals who require a deep understanding of the modelling language, Architects who will be responsible for developing architectural artifacts, and who want to achieve an internationally-recognised qualification in the architectural practice.
