EAPD Overview

Enterprise Architecture Professional Development is a core part of a professional's personal and working lives that we do every day without even thinking about it. It is how we develop our skills and knowledge for both personal development and career advancement.

Our professional development services include both formal and informal types of vocational education, leading to qualifications or credentials required to obtain or retain employment.

The services range from a single workshop to week long courses. We also provide specific semester-long programs to cover a wide variety of expertise development.

Approach to Professional Development

Some examples of approaches to our professional development include:

  • Case Study Method - Our case study method is based on business school practices of presenting the students with a case and then putting them in the role of a decision maker facing a problem
  • Lesson Study - developing knowledge skills and solving practical situations in classroom environments or through webinar services with other professionals by examining best practices, their application and performance analysis
  • Competency Assessments - which assess employee understanding, performance and competency in Enterprise Architecture. Suitable for departments and testing for specialist skills professional development
  • Coaching - to enhance a person's competencies in a specific skill area by providing technical assistance with a process of observation, discussion and action. Particularly of use after a competency assessment service
  • Communities of Practice - to improve professional practice by engaging in collaboration and learning with people who have a common goal in the organisations. Suitable for organisations, alliances, mergers or industry groupings
  • Mentoring - to promote an individual's awareness and refinement of his or her own professional development through workbooks, assessments, discussions and guidance
  • Consultation - to assist an individual or group of individuals to develop their areas of interests through developing views and viewpoints to clarify and address understanding

Professional Development for Organisations

Organisations derive their success and competitiveness by ensuring their people are highly competent and use the best practices to deliver their enterprise architecture capabilities.

Many organisation's are setting up Communities of Practice to improve professionalism amongst their people by engaging in shared inquiry and learning with people who have a common goal.

Enterprise Architecture is advancing very fast.

Architecting the Enterprise offer mentoring services to Senior Executives to advise them how to develop and organise their communities and Enterprise Architecture services in this rapidly changing world.

Professional Development for Individuals

If you are to maximise your potential for lifetime employability, it is essential that you maintain high levels of professional competence by continually improving your knowledge and skills.

You may move roles frequently during your working life.

By taking ownership of your career and focusing your professional development you will:

  • be better able to recognise opportunity
  • be more aware of the trends and directions in technology and society
  • become increasingly effective in the workplace
  • be able to help, influence and lead others by your example
  • be confident of your future employability
  • have a fulfilling and rewarding career

Taking a structured approach to your professional development will enable you to demonstrate continuing commitment to your profession. What's more, the good practice of regularly reviewing your needs, and selecting appropriate learning activities to help you fulfil them, will give your career focus and meaning.

In your own best interests, you should be developing a personal portfolio of your professional activities and their relevance to your current job and your continued career as well as your future ambitions.

Remember ... Professional Development helps to

  • give us the drive to progress our careers
  • keep us employable.
