One of the key benefits of TOGAF is that it has been developed with customisation in mind. As a result, organizations are able to adapt the framework to suite their needs. Mike Turner from Capgemini, the company that donated the underlying IP for this tool, notes that TOGAF Customizer™ allows an organization to accelerate and enhance its TOGAF adoption by publishing the content that is right for them.
Based on the Eclipse Process Framework (EPF), an open source project that is managed by the Eclipse Foundation, the TOGAF Customizer™ contains all the content of TOGAF 9 in a structured and editable form, including guidelines, concepts, and checklists, as well as detailed work breakdown structures for the framework’s new and improved Architecture Development Method (ADM). With the new tool, users can more easily and quickly align their Enterprise Architecture practices with TOGAF 9 and create organization-specific versions of the standard that represent the concerns of their unique business and technology environments. In addition, the new tool makes it much easier for Enterprise Architects to integrate TOGAF with other common EA frameworks, such as Zachman, FEAF and DoDAF.
Key features and benefits for users of the TOGAF Customizer™:
Architecting the Enterprise, the leading global provider of TOGAF training, welcomes the release of this tool and will incorporate it in our service offerings. For further details on these services please contact us on sales@architecting-the-enterprise.com.
The number of practitioners who have seen the value of TOGAF and have become certified in TOGAF 8 has reached 10,025. This is in keeping with the prediction that this figure would be reached by June 2009.

Roger is a leading proponent of the ideas of Enterprise Architecture, initially described by John Zachman in the 1980s, and is now convinced that TOGAF is the world leading methodology for Enterprise Architecture.
For the last 2 years he has been running Training Course and Consultancy assignments for Architecting the Enterprise. Roger has over 30 years experience in IT and Telecoms industries covering all aspects of the project lifecycle from Requirements through to Deployment. For several years he worked in the capacity of Global IT Architect for a major global telecommunications provider, using methods in the workplace which were developed in parallel with his work in the TM Forum. During his TMF work he contributed to the TM Forum Architectures, particularly the Business Process Framework (eTOM), Shared Information Framework (SID) and Telecoms Applications Framework (TAM). These methods include developing a high level functional architecture, creating an application map and using those deliverables to develop a long term strategy and architecture for an organisation.
Over the next few years Roger would like to see the continued growth of Enterprise Architecture using TOGAF throughout all industries and to show how the adoption of Enterprise Architecture creates real value for large organisations.
