The Synergy of Architecture Frameworks: What comes around goes around

DM Direct Newsletter - May 18th 2007

The TOGAF/DoDAF working group recognized that the frameworks were complimentary and enable architects to use the TOGAF ADM to build DoDAF architectures which clearly align to business requirements and services.

Both frameworks have a services-based history and reference models and have the fundamental capability to be used to create SOAs. The working group also observed that both frameworks are currently dealing with potential gaps, such as explicit support for service orientation.

For the information architect, this ultimately means being better equipped to practice within a much broader space, which is a significant advantage in today's competitive environment. <full article here>

Yet another first - in Rio de Janeiro

TOGAF's popularity is speading so rapidly that almost every month we are visiting a new country. In December 2006, we ran the first TOGAF certification course in Brazil - in Rio de Janeiro. Judith Jones (see picture - second from the right in the front row) was the instructor supported by Annie Moger, Architecting the Enterprise's Operations Manager (front row - far left).

Cape Town course a huge hit

Twelve students from six different organisations ranging from Diamond mining to Telecomms attended a TOGAF certification course in Cape Town at the beginning of December. Mike Lambert was the instructor, pictured second from the right.

TOGAF Certification rate ramps up

This month the number of people certified in TOGAF has risen above 1550. This comes just four months after Architecting the Enterprise added the 1000th certification to the register in May 2006, showing just how quickly TOGAF is being adopted.

With courses in Bangalore, Brussels, London, Sydney, Toronto, Warsaw and Washington TOGAF Certification is becoming a world-wide phenomena.

Take up from Fortune 500 companies is increasing. The latest team of Enterprise Architects embracing TOGAF are from Caterpillar Inc. They are pictured here with their instructor Bill Estrem in Peoria, a town just South-West of Chicago.
