Enterprise Architecture Assessment Services - EAAS

Architecting the Enterprise is a unique association of highly experienced people closely connected with TOGAF™ and The Open Group's Architecture Forum. Inevitably, Architecting the Enterprise is seen as the TOGAF™ specialist. However, our collective experience and expertise spans all aspects of Enterprise Architecture. This strength gives us the knowledge, skills and capability to help our clients at a practical level.

Getting started with Enterprise Architecture

Many organisations require help in the preliminary phases of their architecture projects. TOGAF provides a great deal of high-level method and process, but it has to be organisationally tailored. Common issues are:

  • Reconciling TOGAF with other frameworks (e.g. Zachman)
  • Choosing appropriate tools
  • Developing artefact templates
  • Modelling business scenarios

Services - preliminary phase

We have defined a number of specific services that can, either individually or combined, help you with the preliminary phase of a TOGAF based architecture project. The deliverables currently available are:

  • Setting up an Enterprise Architecture Practice
  • Mentoring
  • TOGAF customisation
  • Tool selection
  • Tool evaluation
  • Tool customisation
  • Phase initiation workshop

Three day deliverables typically consist of a facilitated workshop sandwiched between a preparatory day and a follow-up day.

Services - key checkpoints

There are some key checkpoints or milestones in any architecture project where external assessment or guidance would be useful. Drawing on industry best practice we've designed one-day deliverables around two of these topics.

  • Governance workshop
  • Architecture Capability Maturity Assessment

Architecture Capability Maturity Assessment

The real value of Architecture Capability Maturity Assessments

Organisations continually face pressures to gain and retain competitive advantage, identifying ways of cutting costs, improving quality and reducing time to market. Maturity models have been developed to assist organisations in this endeavour.

  • Enabling greater efficiency in the utilisation of resources and prioritises projects by creating a roadmap for target enterprise architecture maturity level
  • Delivering standard methodology enables a stable state of maturity development to be reached and for incremental improvements to be made over time
  • Increasing an organisation's capability for Enterprise Architecture. Successful EA programs are viewed as critical to business sustainability
  • Giving an indication of compliance with governance policies and procedures across the enterprise. Thus giving key stakeholders early indication of governance issues
  • Offering financial benefits derived from reduced redundancy, improved time to delivery, reduced support costs and reduced acquisition costs

Architecting The Enterprise Architecture Capability Maturity Assessments

Based on:

  • Appraisal requirements for CMMI
  • The Department of Commerce (DOC) Enterprise Architecture Capability Maturity Model (2007)
  • The Open Group Architecture Framework - TOGAF
  • NASCIO Maturity Model
  • Architecting the Enterprise Skills Framework
  • Former Analysis of the Enterprise
